'American novelist, short story writer, and editor of fantasy and horror fiction. While Dennis William Etchison's books have never achieve bestseller status, his peers regard him as one of the finest writers currently working in the horror genre, particularly in the psychological horror subgenre. His short stories are especially praised. His first short story collection, The Dark Country, received both the World Fantasy Award and the British Fantasy Award for Best Collection of , and he has twice won the British Fantasy Award for Best Short Story. As an editor, Etchison has received two World Fantasy Awards for Best Anthology. He has also published popular novelizations of several films under the pseudonym of 'Jack Martin'.'
