Burrell became a celebrity following a 20 scandal which began with the collapse of his trial on charges of theft from Princess Diana, and allegations that followed in its wake about the behaviour of the British Royal Family and their servants. Despite being accused of exploiting his connections with the Royal family and revealing their 'secrets' for his personal profit, the public and media gave him every opportunity to increase his fame and fortune. Even before the scandal, he published several books on eiquette and entertaining in a royal style. After his trail, he wrote his controversial book, A Royal Duty, and then went on to career in television reality and game shows. '
