Pristo, L. J. (Larry), Ph.D.
Martelé / Martele, Gorham's Nouveau Art Silver.
Publisher: Phoenix, Heritage Antiques, 2001. 600 p., 542 b/w illus., 5 color plates, 29 cm. If Larry Pristo hasn't identified every piece of Martelé, it isn't from lack of effort. This work lists every one, when it was made and who made it (when known). Pristo's work about doubles the number of known Martelé objects to 8000 from the 4000-some in Charles Carpenter's book. One reason for the gaps in Carpenter's lists was his inclusion of only samples but not the special-order wares. Pristo's is the book to begin with for anyone interested in research on Martelé. 36293x. New from publisher; dj new.
